Place of the Festival

The International Music Festival is held every year on the first Thursday in June at Plumlov Reservoir which is a resort centre about eight kilometres from Prostějov. It attracts not only inhabitants of Prostějov but holiday-makers from both the whole country and from abroad as well. There are facilities for a great number of people who can go sunbathing, swimming, do water sports there. Visitors can go for walks in the surroundings of the dam and also in the neighbouring villages which offer interesting monuments to see. Plumlov Reservoir lying in the Drahany Highlands is surrounded by beautiful woods which offers charming outings with lovely views of the countryside.

History of the Festival

The first International Music Festival for handicapped children was held on 5-6 June 1996. It was quite an extraordinary event for both that time and the Czech Republic held for handicapped children from all special schools, children's homes and institutions run by both state and caritas. A number of these festivals was also attended by handicapped children from Slovakia and Denmark. The organisers would appreciate handicapped participants from other countries too. Recently individual families with their handicapped children have also started arriving because they know that their children's needs will be satisfied there and they will find there many new friends and will spend two exciting days filled with music, dancing and friendship.

Dear Friends of the Festival

Warm greetings to you all from our new www festival pages. In this year 2002 on 5-6 June we will held already the seventh year of our music festival for handicapped children and youth. This time as usual we are preparing for you two days filled with music, dancing, contests, games and entertainment. We are happy to announce that the anchor man of both the festival days will be Honza "Sluníčko" Musil as usual but this time he will be helped by another known personality from TV Prima - Zora Jandová. You must know them well from a TV programme "Pets" and you will definitely enjoy yourselves. Among other festival guests there will be a popular group "Maxim Turbulence" who arrive every year and this time they are giving two concerts. The first one will be on Wednesday night for the adult participants and the second one on Thursday morning for the small participants of the festival. The well-known boys group HA-HA have promised to come and we are also trying to engage the group HOLKI. Besides the groups we should also mention the popular singer HEIDI, a regular guest of our festival. In co-operation with PV AUTO we are going to prepare surprise for you. We hope everything will be all right. Just watch our internet pages regularly to be informed well ahead about all the festival activities and some contingent changes.
